The Pontifical Oriental Institute is a school of higher education that has as its special mission service to the Eastern Churches.
The Pontifical Oriental Institute was created by Pope Benedict XV in 1917 and entrusted to the Society of Jesus in 1922 by Pope Pius XI.

The 25th of May 2018 will initiate a day dedicated to the Rev. Father Samir Khalil Samir, sj on the occasion of his 80th birthday. The day will begin with a symposium on Arabic Christian Heritage and the Christian Islamic dialogue and will conclude with Academic Acts in honor of Rev. Fr. Samir Khalil Samir, sj in the presence of His Eminence, Rev. Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches and Grand Chancellor of the Pontifical Oriental Institute.
We are pleased to inform you that from 2 May to 30 June, the library will have a new timetable:
Monday to Friday: 08:30-19:00 (Books may be requested from 09:00 until 18:30)
Saturday: 08:30-12:30 (Books may be requested from 08:30 until 12:00)
